Big Bud is a mid-shelf cannabis strain more known for its legendary yields than high potency. A one time cannabis cup winner in 1989, Big Bud has vastly improved with selective breeding. Originally the strain was around 15% THC. Top notch growers have achieved THC levels as high as 23% under perfect conditions. The evolution of Big Bud has provided growers with a great quality strain that also has high yields.
Overall Big Bud is a good commercial mid-shelf marijuana strain. It’s strength is definitely its massive yields, while its taste and quality are somewhat lacking. The taste is good but not great, but I have sampled strains that are quite tasty. If you are looking for the highest yielding marijuana strain on the block, Big Bud is your strain. Big Bud Marijuana Review
TYPE: Hybrid Indica Dominant
THC: Usually around 15% but up to 23%
APPEARANCE: True to its name Big Bud has massive nugs. It has a frosty mint green appearance intertwined with fine orange hairs .
SMELL: Very pungent earthy smell that is a little pine-solish. Definitely a very uniquely dank lemon smell.
BEST FOR TREATING: Insomnia, Anxiety, Pain, Appetite, Depression and Migraines
CREATED FEELINGS: Creates a moderate buzz, not the hardest hitting strain. It does have that great indica feel without getting complete couch-lock. Feels like high grade mid-shelf marijuana. High starts to wear off after 2 hours without that “coming down” feeling. A great night time bud.
DURATION: Great high for 1.5 to 2 hours
GROW DIFFICULTY: Easy
FLOWERING TIME: 70 days
YIELD INDOOR: Around 600 grams
YIELD OUTDOOR: Up to a couple of pounds
When cultivated Big Bud’s lower branches almost snap under its immensely dense, large buds. This has prompted growers to cross breed Big Bud with hundreds of other strains, producing larger yields out of high quality strains. The average flowering time is around 70 days for Big Bud, but it is best to inspect buds under magnification to find the perfect time to harvest.
